Lauded as “remarkable” by The New York Times, Soprano Emalie Savoy’s lyric vocal beauty and dramatic passion continue to touch audiences worldwide.
Awarded First Prize in Voice at the prestigious 2015 ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany, Emalie Savoy: A Portrait, her highly anticipated debut album from GENUIN classics, was released in the fall of 2016. The album has garnered widespread acclaim including nominations for a 2016 Deutsche Schallplattenkritik prize, 2017 ICMA Award, and consideration for a 2017 ECHO Klassik Award. A multiple prizewinner, accolades include a 2013 Leonore Annenberg Fellowship, the 2012 Hildegard Behrens Foundation Award, and the 2011 Leonie Rysanek Grand Prize from the George London Foundation.
A versatile artist, Savoy is sought-after on the operatic as well as concert and recital stage. Notable appearances include her Metropolitan Opera debut as Kristina in Leoš Janáček’s The Makropulos Case, conducted by Jiří Bělohálovek; performances alongside cellist Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble; her Carnegie Hall debut as soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Paulus with the Oratorio Society of New York, conducted by Kent Tritle; performances with the New York Philharmonic as Queen Isabella in de Falla’s Atlántida; guest soloist with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and the Musical Olympus Foundation in St. Petersburg, Russia at the Grand Hall of the D.D.Shostakovich St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonia, and her performance of Contessa Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto with The Metropolitan Opera HD Live series, released on DVD by Deutsche Grammophon. In addition to her solo career, Savoy maintains a vibrant, in-demand vocal studio in Charlotte, North Carolina and upstate South Carolina; she also serves as an Instructor of Practice in Voice as part of the voice faculty at The Petrie School of Music at Converse University in Spartanburg, SC. A native of Schenectady, New York, she completed The Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, and holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance from The Juilliard School.
